Frequently asked questions

Why does my phone's MAC show no vendor?
Phones use a random, locally administered MAC per Wi-Fi network for privacy. The second hex digit is 2, 6, A or E, and no vendor is registered.
Is the lookup done online?
The vendor list is downloaded once into your browser and matched locally; the addresses you paste are not sent anywhere.
Which format does Cisco use?
Three dot-separated groups of four lowercase hex digits, e.g. 001a.2b3c.4d5e.
